Orlynn G. "Orlie" Johnson 1944 - 2010

Orlie Johnson PhotoOrlynn G. “Orlie” Johnson, 66, Pick City, formerly of Glenburn, ND, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Sakakawea Medical Center in Hazen, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Orlynn Gale Johson was born April 13, 1944, in Minot, ND, to Irving and Dora (Hoiland) Johnson.  He attended Grilley Grade School, near Deering, and then attended school in Glenburn.  He graduated from Velva High School.  Orlie attended North Dakota State School of Science and graduated with a degree in welding.

He farmed in Grilley Township, north of Deering, for many years.  While on the farm he was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, north of Deering.  In the late 1970’s he moved to Pick City, where he was a business owner.

Orlie enjoyed farming, and was an avid hunter and fisherman, who held several North Dakota State Fishing Records.  He enjoyed his time with his friends and the coffee crew.  He was a charter member of the Glenburn Jaycees and a US Director.  Orlie’s last words to his sister were, “I had a great life!”

Those who shared in his life,     Sisters, Arlyce (Richard) Holtz, and Marilyn Miller all of Minot, Marcia (Farron) Hettich, Elgin, ND; brother, Mark (Marcell) Johnson, Minot; nieces, Tricia, Angela, Jennifer and Brooklyn; nephews, Brett and Jordan, and one great-nephew and two great-nieces; aunts and uncles, Joyce (Rod) Shuman, Mabel Hoiland and Morgan Simonson, all of Minot, and numerous cousins survive.

Orlie was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Dora Johnson; nephews, Edward Johnson and Brad Holtz.

Memorial Service:  Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation:  There will be no reviewal.  Friends may sign the guest book Monday, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND, at a later date.
