Olga Martinson Johnson • 1914 - 2007

Olga Martinson Johnson, 92, Minot, ND, died Monday, January 8, 2007, in a Minot hospital.

Olga Kotasek was born on September 9, 1914, the daughter of Martin and Frances (Baburek) Kotasek on the family farm located in McKinley Township of Ward County, rural Minot, ND. She was the second oldest of four children. She was raised and educated in rural Minot and attended McKinley Township School.

Olga was married to Paul Martinson on September 25, 1938, in Minot. They made their home in Minot before moving to Portland, OR, during WWII. She worked in the blueprint room at the shipyards. Following the war, they moved back to Minot. Paul passed away on June 30, 1971.

On June 8, 1979, she married Berton Johnson in Minot. They made their home in Minot. They enjoyed traveling and camping in their 5th wheel. Berton passed away on May 8, 1987. She continued to reside in her home until 2004, when she moved in to the Richard and Arlyce Holtz Adult Foster Care Home, Minot.

Olga was a very active member of the Moose Lodge in Minot. She was a Senior Regent and past officer of the Women of the Moose.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, traveling and camping. She also enjoyed spending time at her lake cabin at Strawberry Lake.

Surviving family includes: sister, Rose Korgel, Minot; sister-in-law, Bernice Kotasek Stoland and her husband, Millard, Minot, nieces and nephews, Richard (Nita) Korgel, Minot, Darlene (Romaine) Streifel, Minot, Sandra (Randy) Ehlers, Burlington, Blaine Kotasek, Minot, and Debra Kotasek, Minot; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews;
step-children, Elayne (Harold) Wald, Norwich, Richard (Diana) Johnson, Sun Lakes, AZ, Kenneth (Laurel) Johnson, Hebron, ND, and Karen (Norman) Beck, Bismarck;
step son-in-law, Donald Heinze, Parshall; several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and step great-great-grandchildren;

Olga was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Martinson; husband, Berton Johnson; brothers, Albert and Edward Kotasek; step-daughter, Dolores Heinze.

Funeral: Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
