Max J. Johnson, 85, Minot, formerly of Plaza, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Brentmoor Assisted Living in Minot.

Max Jeffrey Johnson was born February 10, 1922 on the family farm near Plaza, ND, a twin son to John R. and Martha (Fyllesvold) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Plaza and graduated from Plaza High School in 1940. He attended Minot Business College for one year.

Max worked at the Truax-Traer Coal Company in Minot for a time. He moved to the west coast and worked in the shipyards during WWII. He later worked at Hanford, WA, and was one of several who worked on the atomic bomb. He returned to Plaza to farm the family farm with his twin brother, Miles. He later moved to Minot, but continued to farm until his retirement.

Max enjoyed gardening, bowling and sports. He was a member of Spring Valley Lutheran Church, rural Plaza.

Those who shared in his life, Siblings, Irene Hartsook, Minneapolis, MN, Jack Johnson, Babbitt, MN and Grace Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins survive.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Miles, brother, Arthur; sister, Verna York; infant sister, Ruth Johnson; sisters-in-law, Edna Johnson and Alice Johnson Swenson; brothers-in-law, Ben York and Everett Hartsook.

Friday, April 11, 2008 ~ 2:00 p.m.

Burial: Spring Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Plaza, ND
