Kenneth O. Johnson 1919 - 2009 Kenneth Oscar Johnson was born March 15, 1919 in McKinney Township, rural Tolley, ND, to John Oscar and Ellen Marie (Oberg) Johnson. In his early years he attended McKinney School and later Tolley High School where he graduated in 1938. Kenneth married Theoda A. "Tody" Johnson on October 29, 1957 in Tolley. They lived and farmed in the Tolley area their entire lives. Tody passed away on June 30, 2003. In December of 2003 he entered the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, where he since had lived. He was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tolley, where he was very active with fundraising for the church and served on numerous church boards. He served as chairman of the board for McKinney Township. He was a member and former chairman of the Renville Elevator Company in Tolley and was also a member of the Renville-Bottineau Agricultural Improvement Association. Kenneth was a Boy Scout leader for many years and in the 1950's he worked as an oil pumper. He liked to tinker on the farm and enjoyed his cows, his team of horses and dogs. He also enjoyed going to rodeos and parades, he loved to hunt and fish and play cards with the neighbors. Kenneth liked his drill rows to be straight and he enjoyed picking June Berries. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in his life, Daughter, Stacey (Sven) Hauge, Williston; sons, Jeffrey (Sheila) Johnson, Minot, and Paul (Kristi) Johnson, Fargo; five grandchildren, Jody Hauge, Steven Hauge, Makenzi Johnson, Katie Johnson, and Jayce Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Brandon and Sadie Reynolds; sisters, Helen Peterson, Kenmare and Elaine (Merton) Malek of Liberty Lake, WA; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Dwayne) Keith, Mohall, Eunice (Robert) Hembree, Minot and Judith (David) Fitzgerald, Watford City; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Theoda "Tody" Johnson; his parents; brother, Walter Johnson and sister, Edna Johnson. Funeral: Monday, May 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tolley, ND. Visitation and prayer service: Sunday, from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND. Burial: McKinney Cemetery, rural Tolley, ND.
