Catherine Ann "Kay" Johnson 1920 - 2004

Catherine "Kay" Ann Johnson, 83, 620 19th St. NW, Minot, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born March 12, 1920, in Karlsruhe, ND, to Frank and Philomena (Lemer) Wald. She was reared and educated in Karlsruhe and graduated from Karlsruhe High School. Upon graduation, she worked for the Great Northern Railroad in Verendrye, Hannaford, Selz, Wahpeton and Kindred as a depot agent.

On June 5, 1945, she married Gordon O. Johnson at her parent's home in Karlsruhe. They lived in Dwight, Guthrie, Coteau and Williston, moving around with Gordon's job. In 1955 they moved to Minot. She attended Minot Business College and worked a variety of jobs for Minot physicians and also at the Minot Elks Club. Her husband died on September 20, 1976. Catherine continued living in Minot until her death.

Kay was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church since 1955 and a pen pal of the 4th grade class at Little Flower Catholic School. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1956.

Survivors: son, Terry (Gail) Johnson, Brentwood, TN; daughter, Mary Ann (Tom) Frost, Boone, IA; grandchildren, Amy Frost and Michael Frost; brothers, Jerome Wald, Hemet, CA, John Wald, Canal Winchester, OH and Donald Wald, Peoria, AZ; sister, Magdelen Stricker, Moorhead, MN, Carolyn Moser, Minot, Marian Bridwell, Moorhead, MN and Gloria Taylor, Tucson, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Johnson; parents, Frank and Philomena Wald; brothers, Frank and Herman Wald and sister, Agatha Bonawitz.

Funeral: Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer: Sunday, 4:00 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
