Louise P. Jevne 1910- 2007 Louise was born on January 1, 1910, the daughter of Joseph R. and Valentine (Butterfield) Armstrong in Hamerly Township, Renville County, ND, where she was reared and attended elementary school. She graduated from Mohall High School and completed some college before starting a teaching career in 1929. Her teaching took her from Renville County to a German community south of Pick City, ND, in the late 30's During her high school years, Louise accepted Christ as her Savior, which was the beginning of a life long commitment to the Word. She was faithful and diligent in her daily prayers for family, friends and neighbors. While teaching at Van Buren Township, Louise met Harry O. Jevne whom she married on March 21, 1932, at her parent's home, in rural Sherwood, ND. Together the couple had four children and made their home on a farm southwest of Lansford, ND, where she taught at Van Buren Township School No. 3. In 1954, the family moved to Minot where she was a supervisor of student teachers for the Minot State Teachers College at Nedrose School. In 1958, she was employed by the Minot Public School System. In 1964, Louise earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English from Minot Teachers State College. In 1971, Louise retired after 25 years of teaching. Louise and Harry moved to Fargo in 1989. Harry entered the Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN in 1992. He passed away on December 12, 1993. Louise entered Bethany Home in Fargo on August 29, 2000, where she lived until the time of her death. Louise was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Minot. She joined the Pierre Verendrye Chapter of the DAR on October 10, 1967, and holds a life membership in the National Society where she also held the office of State Regent. She was also a charter and life member of the Renville County Historical Society, ND Historical Society, Mouse River Loop Genealogical Society, and Erie County (PA) Society for Research as well as many teaching organizations. Survivors: children, Gene (Ellen) Jevne, Casper, WY, Vallie (Dennis) Holmgren, Fargo, ND, Don (Sue) Jevne, Collbran, CO and Terry (Joan) Jevne, Lansford, ND; 17 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and grand nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harry, her parents, grandson, Jacob Smith, sister, Ruth Mattern, brothers, Everett, Eugene, Harry, Jerald, and Kenneth Armstrong. Funeral Service: Friday, January 26, 2007, at 3 p.m.
