Donald Jessen, 76, Minot, ND, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, in a Minot hospital.

Donald D. "Don" Jessen was born January 10, 1933, a son of Chris and Reka (Beckman) Jessen, in Jamestown, ND. He was raised in and educated in Jamestown. He graduated from Sebeka High School, Sebeka, MN.

On October 13, 1951, Don married Marian E. Samuelson . Following their marriage, Don was employed on the Iron Range in Minnesota.

They moved to Fargo in 1955, where Don was employed with Johnson Service Company. Don continued to work for Johnson Service Company until 1970, when he began his employment with St. Joseph's Hospital. He retired as Vice President of Environmental Services in 1993.

He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church.

His surviving family members include: wife of 57 years, Marian, Minot; children, Don (Marcia) Jessen, Minot, Susan Sjaastad, Minot, Kevin Jessen, rural Des Lacs, Warren (Kerry) Jessen, Two Harbors, MN, Bruce Jessen, rural Minot, and Bradley Jessen, Washburn, ND; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Dorothy) Jessen, Frederick, MD, and Douglas (Charlotte) Jessen, Bismarck, ND; sisters, Carol (Melvin) Vincent, Inverness, IL, and Lorraine (Louis) Anderberg, Stanley, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: Friday, June 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rolling Green Cemetery, rural Des Lacs, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Service Participants: Pastor Curt Hanson - Trinity Hospital Chaplain and Brandi Joiner, granddaughter - Reader

Immediately following the funeral service, please join the family for a time of fellowship and lunch in the lower level. The graveside service will commence at 1:30 pm.
