Violet E. Jensen 1919 - 2009 Violet Eleanor Settergren was born July 26, 1919 to Oscar and Agnes (Anderson) Settergren-Wolfe in Dassel, MN. At a young age she moved with her family to Minneapolis, MN, where she was raised and educated. Violet married Francis Brodin in October of 1940 in Minneapolis. They made their home there and to this union Carol and Mark where born. Francis passed away in 1962. Violet married Robert P. Jensen on April 14, 1973 in Minneapolis. They made their home there for three years before moving to the Carpio and Berthold areas, where they since have lived. Violet was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church and the Carpio Lutheran Church Women. She was a member of the Carpio Homemakers and the Carpio Senior Citizens. Violet enjoyed keeping up to date on current events in the world and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She loved making afaghans for her family. She also enjoyed the times spent with her family and would often cook large meals and made sure everyone was well fed. She had the gift of hospitality, making everyone feel welcomed. Violet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life, husband, Robert P. Jensen, Berthold; children, Carol (Wally) Birkeland, Minot; Mark (Gerarda) Brodin, Rapid City, SD; Bonnie (Paul) Langenfeld, Eden Prairie, MN; Ronald (Lorraine) Jensen, Egan, MN and Nancy (Rick) Lawson, Minot; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Jeff (Karen) Birkeland, St. Paul, MN, and their children, Bjorn and Ingrid; DeAnn (Craig) Birdsall, Carpio, ND, and their children, Tyler, Adam, Rachel and Sara; Darcy (Kory) Schweitzer, Dickinson, ND, and their children, Brett and Paige; Ben (Holly) Brodin, Omaha, NE; Jason Brodin, Rapid City, SD; Jenna Lawson, Rochester, MN; Michelle (Jerod) Kemper, Jeremy Lawson, Aimie Langenfeld, Anne Langenfeld and Christine Jensen, all of Minneapolis, MN; Brian (Janelle) Jensen, Seattle, WA, and their children, Isabelle and Aubrey; and Sarah Whalen, Rapid City, SD; sister, LaVerne Taylor, Carson City, NV; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Violet was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Brodin; parents, Oscar and Agnes Settergren; brothers, Russel and Kenneth Settergren; step-father, George Wolfe. Funeral: Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND. Visitation: Sunday, June 7, 2009, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND. Officiating Clergy: Rev. Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall. Those not attending the graveside service are asked to begin the luncheon and the family will join you when they return from the cemetery. Violet's family would like to thank everyone for the many
