Edna H. C. Jensen 1911 - 2008 Edna Hannah Christine Nelson was born February 24, 1911, the daughter of Axel W. and Augusta (Eck) Nelson on the family farm located in Sherman Township of Bottineau County. She attended Sherman Country School and Mohall High School. Edna was married to Herman V. Smith February 25, 1929, in Bottineau, ND. They farmed in Wheaton Township until Herman's death in July of 1936. In the fall of 1936, she and her three children moved to Sherwood. They spent the summer months at the Nelson farm where she helped with the field work. She married Russell Harrison in October of 1947. They were later divorced. While residing in Sherwood, she worked at Steve's Grocery Store in Sherwood. She later lived in Lansford and Mohall, and worked at the Mohall Hospital for several years. On June 11, 1969, she married Oscar Jensen. They lived on a farm located in Rockford Township of Renville County, rural Kenmare, ND. They continued to farm until 1976, when they moved to Kenmare. Oscar passed away August 17, 1982. Edna continued to reside in Kenmare and in 1997, she moved to the Kenmare Baptist Home. In 2004, she moved to the Kenmare Community Hospital. She was a member of Evanger Lutheran Church and the Evanger W.E.L.C.A. In her younger years, she spent many hours sewing and fixing hair for many Sherwood ladies. She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, word puzzles, bingo, card games, and spent a lot of time reading. Surviving family includes: daughter, Beverly (Orville) Jensen, Kenmare; step children, Roger (Annie) Jensen, Virginia (Larry) Emmel, and David (Candy) Jensen, all of Kenmare; 10 grandchildren; Randy Jensen, Barry Jensen, Kenneth (Sarah) Jensen, Mark (Michelle) Jensen, David (Ann) Smith, Sue (Russ) Sapp, Janet Hendrix, Larry (Dena) Smith, Douglas (Kim) Smith, and Vicki Dutra; 8 step grandchildren, Sue (Jim) Chuesberg, Steve (Sharlet) Jensen, Rhonda (Bob) Johnson, Jim Emmel, Mike (Camey) Emmel, Janelle (Ryan) Wille, Tim (Twylah) Jensen, and Lori (Chet) Wahl; 25 great-grandchildren; 22 step great-grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; 6 step great great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Cameron, Sherwood, Mildred (Henry) Hagen, Mohall; sisters-in-law, Hazel Haskins, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; infant children, Hazel E. Smith and Walter M. Smith; sons, Truman Smith and Victor Smith; daughters-in-law, Joanne Smith and Sharon Smith; grandson, Scott Smith; brothers, Merton Nelson and Ernest Nelson; and sister, Vera Nelson. Funeral: Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
