Harriet Janz 1911- 2010 Harriet Pauline Johnson was born January 30, 1911, to Ditlef and Johanna (Arntsen) Johnson on the family farm southwest of Crosby, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Crosby High School as valedictorian. Harriet then attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in business studies and a social studies minor. She went on to teach those subjects at Towner High School for five years. Harriet came moved to Minot in 1936 and did secretarial work until her marriage to Roy A. Janz, a Certified Public Accountant. Roy passed away in 1951. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, and served as Sunday School Superintendant for 25 years. She was active with the church women and served on various committees in the church. She was also the church’s office manager until her retirement in 1976. Following retirement, she continued to live in Minot and in 2003, moved to Edgewood Vista. Those who shared in Harriet’s life, two daughters, Rev. Mary Janz, Racine, WI, and Margaret (Harlan) Swanson, Chanhassen, MN; two grandsons, Rev. Mark (Megan) Swanson and Paul Swanson and one great-grandson, Oskar Swanson; several nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents, Johanna and Ditlef Johnson; a brother, John Johnson; two sisters, Helga Bergem and Alma Johnson. Funeral: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, 1800 Hiawatha St., Minot, ND 58701 Officiating Clergy: Rev. John Streccius and Rev.
