Agnes M. Janz • 1913 - 2003 Agnes M. Janz, 89, Fargo, formerly of Makoti, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Bethany Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Agnes was born June 23, 1913, in Hiddenwood Township, Ward County, rural Makoti, ND, the daughter of Charles and Inga (Remme) Knutson. She was raised and educated in that area and graduated from Makoti High School. On June 8, 1933 she married Alvin Janz at Max, ND. They lived and farmed in rural Makoti until their retirement when they moved into Makoti. Alvin died July 15, 1984. Agnes continued to live in Makoti until 1993, when she entered Bethany Nursing Home in Fargo, where she since had lived. Agnes was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Makoti. She was active with Sunday school and served as superintendent for a number of years. She was a member and served as treasurer of the Makoti Senior Citizens, and also was a member of the Makoti American Legion Auxiliary. Agnes loved baking and crocheting and enjoyed doing them for other people. Survivors: Daughters, Darlene (Rev. Rob) Nelson, Zumbrota, MN, Eloise (Arne) Breikjern, Fargo; sons, Allen (Joan) Janz, Ryder, Myron Janz, Washburn, ND, Jerry (Glynda) Janz, Mandan, ND; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Bjornson, Boulder, Colorado, Signora Scroggs, Eugene, OR, Clarice Goltz, Leonard, ND, Vivian Miller Oshkosh, WI, Joyce Johnston, Nekoma, ND; brother, Marvin Knutson, Eugene, OR; numerous nieces and nephews survive. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Janz; sons, Ronald and Daryl Janz, and one infant son; parents, Charles and Inga Knutson; brothers, Charles II, Orville and Vernon Knutson; sisters, Alice Anderson and Janice Schuyler. Funeral: Friday, June 20, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Makoti, ND. Visitation: Thursday, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
