Karen Jans, 58, Minot, ND entered her heavenly home on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Trinity Hospital.

Karen was born on February 25, 1950, a daughter of James and Bernice (Meller) Runnestrand at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Butte, ND, where she graduated high school.

On June 17, 1972, she was united in marriage to Benjamin "Bennie" Jans and they made their home on a farm near Mercer, ND where she raised her family. The family moved to Turtle Lake in 1980 and then Butte in 1986. Karen lost her husband in May of 1987 and continued to live in Butte, eventually settling in Minot in 1992 where she worked at Sykes for many years.

Karen had a strong Christian belief and treasured her family. She was a kind-hearted person and always had a positive outlook on life. She had an incredible sense of hope and joy without regard to hardship, inspiring and touching all those who knew her. She had a zest for life and a smile on her face, living each day to the fullest.
