Robert W. Janicki Sr. 1923 - 2006 Robert W. Janicki, Sr., 82, 905 28th Ave. SW, Minot, ND, died Saturday, February 25, 2006, in a Minot hospital. Robert Walter "Bob" Janicki, Sr. was born on September 4, 1923, the son of Walter and Blanche (Andrzejezak) Janicki in West Allis, WI. He was raised and educated in West Allis, WI, and graduated from Bayview High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 2, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI. He proudly served his country during WWII and was awarded the Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Area Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1949. He then served in the United States Navy Reserve until 1953. Bob was married to Mary Valker on May 22, 1954, in Santa Ana, CA. They made their home in Santa Ana, where he was employed by Morgan Linen as a Route Salesman. In 1963, they moved to Minot, where he worked for Boeing Company until 1968. He also worked for Minot Public Schools from 1964 to 1979. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, the Knights of Columbus, Minot, and the United States LST Association. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with his family and friends. Surviving family includes: Wife of 51 years, Mary, Minot; son, Robert (Elizabeth) Janicki Jr., Eagan, MN; daughter, Mary Jane (Virgil) Newborg, Randolph, MN; grandchildren, John and Katie Janicki, Ryan (Susan) Newborg, Darrin (Tina) Newborg, Trevor (Jamie) Newborg and Jessica Throlson; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Vicki (James) Soltis, Mary (Charles) Draper, and Judy (David) Braden; nephews, John Youngbeck, Gerald Youngbeck, Michael (Cindi) Janicki, Thomas Janicki, Gregory (DeAnna) Valker, Geoff (Dianna) Valker and Gail (William) McNulty; and many beloved great nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Scully; father, Walter Janicki; brother, Donald Janicki; and sister, Rosemary Kunze. Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at
