Mary Janicki 1927 - 2011 Mary Helen Valker was born on July 21, 1927, a daughter of George and Helen (Fisk) Valker in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1946. She then trained to be a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s in Minot before moving to California. Mary was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Janicki on May 22, 1954, in Santa Ana, CA. They made their home in Santa Ana, where they became parents to two children, Rob and Janie. In 1963, they moved to Minot, where Mary cared for her mother for several years before returning to nursing, retiring in 1990. Bob died February 26, 2006. Following Bob’s death Mary continued to reside in Minot. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Mary enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed time spent with her niece, Vicki, who lovingly assisted Mary through the transitions in her life. She enjoyed music and socializing with the staff and residents of The View in Minot. Her loving family includes: Mary was preceded in death by her parents George and Helen Valker, husband Bob, siblings George (Carol) Valker Jr., John Valker and Elaine “Bubbles” (John) Youngbeck, brother-in-law: Donald Janicki, sister-in-law Rosemary (Richard) Kunze and nephews George E. Valker, III, and Bryan Valker. Visitation: Thursday, May 12, 2011 from noon until 5 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 5pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2 pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot Service Participants Music Honorary Bearers Following the funeral mass, everyone is invited to join the family in the lower level of the church for lunch and fellowship. The graveside service will take place at a later date in the spring. Our family would like to thank all of you for your many acts of kindness. A special thank you to the staff and residents of The View, your friendship will never be forgotten. Also to the Trinity Hospice staff and the personal caregivers who cared for Mary.
