Anton Jaeger 1917- 2010 Anton Jaeger, 93, of Minot, North Dakota, entered into eternal life on March 10, 2010, at Trinity Nursing Home, Minot. Anton “Tony” Jaeger was born February 26, 1917, in McHenry County, south of Towner, ND, to Balzar and Juliana (Ochs) Jaeger. He grew up on the family farm and attended Copperdal Hill Township School near Towner. Anton was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on February 7, 1942. After completing Infantry basic training at Camp Walters, Mineral Wells, Texas, he was sent to Angel Island, near San Francisco, CA, where he boarded a ship to Oahu, Hawaii, to serve in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He remained in the Pacific theater until his discharged on September 17, 1945, at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and several service medals. After Anton completed his military service, he resumed farming and ranching near Towner on the family farm and worked for Schultz Implement in Towner. Later, he worked for the McHenry and Ward County Highway Departments. He was hired at Minot Air Force Base in Civil Service with the Transportation Department until his retirement in 1979. Anton enjoyed dancing and traveling in his younger years and always kept up his cooking skills and reading. He was very proud of his beautiful and well-groomed lawn. He enjoyed being around his step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, as well as visiting with his family and friends. Anton is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his step-daughter Shelley Larson; step-sons David (Deborah) Larson; DuWayne (Cherri Sue) Larson, Mark (Patricia) Larson, and Kevin (Tom Overlie) Larson ; step-grandchildren Lisa (Darren) Geigle, Angela (Nicholas) Alber, Shannon Larson, Shylah (Donal) Leonard, Adrienne and Addison Larson, Holly, Tanner and Summer Dietz; and great-grandchildren Madison Koble, Brianna and Devin Geigle. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Senger officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, with military graveside service provided by North Dakota National Funeral Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, 21 3rd Avenue SW, Minot, and a vigil prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. The family would prefer memorials to the Dakota Boy and Girls Ranch, Minot, ND.
