Verna Jacobson • 1925 - 2010 Verna May Olson was born May 23, 1925, a daughter of Helmer and Mamie (Bowen) Olson, on the family farm, five miles south of Douglas, ND. She was raised on the farm and attended country schools near Douglas. Verna was united in marriage to Willard L. Jacobson on December 29, 1943 in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where Verna worked as a daycare provider for many children while her own children were young. She later worked at Red Owl Grocery, Trinity Hospital, and K-Mart. Willard passed away January 1, 2006. She then moved to Somerset Court. She had many friends at Somerset. In February she moved to Trinity Retirement Home. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for 50 years, Moose Lodge Auxiliary, and the Eagles Aerie Auxiliary. She loved her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved to rock to sleep. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, sewing for her children, and playing whist. Her loving family includes: children, Betty (Duane) Olson, Minot, Sandy (Ken) Forsberg, Devils Lake, ND, Randy (Julie) Jacobson, Tualatin, OR, Bruce (Nan) Jacobson, Minot and Bonny (Greg) Pearce, Minot; grandchildren, Troy Derheim, Darin Olson, Calisha (Roger) Schumann, Lisa (Travis) Skari, Lance (Saraye) Forsberg, Lucas (Steffen) Forsberg, Paula Hindley, Allison (Jaden) McCullick, Melanie (Scott) Hillestad, Jared Jacobson, Megan Parr, Matt Jameson, Joy Taylor, Melody (Herb) Isham, Misty Taylor, and Gloria (David) Johnson; great grandchildren, Kyla Heinle, Wyatt Heinle, Payton Schumann, Halle Schumann, Calli Jo Forsberg, Brody Forsberg, Taylor Skari, Ian Skari, Olivia Hindley, Ensley Poindexter, Gage Hillestad, Brielle Hillestad, Parker McCullick, Mallory McCullick, and Nathaniel Henry; sisters-in-law, Gloria Olson, Bismarck, Arlene Giesen, Makoti; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
