Harold E. Jacobs, 85, Minot, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 in a Minot hospital.

Harold was born on March 18, 1923, the son of Forrest L. and Alice R. (Powell) Jacobs in Browning, Missouri. He was raised in Kirksville, Missouri, until 1937.

In 1937, he enlisted into the United States Navy. He proudly served his country, serving aboard the USS Tennessee. Harold was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

On January 3, 1943, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Trihub. They made their home in East Moline, IL until 1947, when they moved to Max, and in 1955 moving to Minot. Harold was self-employed with Harold's Trim Shop, an upholstery business, later working for Fisher Motors and Westlie Motors, all in Minot. Lorraine died January 19, 2006. He assisted with many of the residents, at Trinity Homes, many of whom he considered family.

Harold enjoyed flying and restoring airplanes. You could also find him riding his Harley-Davison motorcycle. He purchased his first one while in the Navy, and enjoyed them his entire life. While working on the Garrison Diversion project, he would ride his Harley to work year round.

Harold is survived by:
Daughter: Dorothy Jacobs, Bettendorf, IA and a special friend, Marge Imbrock, Bettendorf, IA; brother Cecil Jacobs, El Cajon, Ca; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, brother Robert and a sister Velma Jacobs..

Visitation: Monday, May 12, 2008 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Graveside service: Monday, May 12, 2008 at 1:15 p.m. at the Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society or Trinity Homes, both of Minot

Officiant: Rev. Luther C. Hanson, Chaplain, Trinity Homes
