Matthew Thomas Irmen 1975 - 2003 Matthew Thomas Irmen, 27, Thornton, CO, formerly of Minot, died Sunday near Raton, NM, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born April 17, 1975 in Libby, MT, the son of Tom and Nancy (Stoveland) Irmen. His family moved to Minot in November of 1975. He attended Perkett Grade School and for grades seven through nine, he attended Bishop Ryan High School and graduated from Minot High School in 1993. He continued his education through the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, where he obtained his business degree. Following graduation, he went to work for Target Corporation. On July 18, 1998, he married Jerica Holwegner in Minot. They made their home in Thornton, Co where Matt was an assistant manager at a Target store in Boulder, CO. While living in Colorado, he also earned his E.M.T. Basic certificate. Matt was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot. He was very active throughout high school, participating in football, baseball and track and field. He also started playing recreation tee ball as a youngster and followed through his life, later playing American Legion baseball and was still active in recreation softball. He currently played with the Denver Silverbacks, a semi-pro football team. He and his wife Jerica enjoyed mountain hiking, camping and skiing together and took great pride in their dogs, Dodger and Dakota. An over achiever, Matt loved life, was passionate about it and lived it to the fullest. He was the kind of guy you'd be mad at one minute and want to hug the next. No matter what, he always left a lasting impression, he truly will be missed. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Norman and Frances Stoveland and Adeline Stoveland and his paternal grandfather, Arthur Irmen. Funeral: Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
