Reiny KaLin Inman 1992- 2009

Reiny KaLin Inman PhotoReiny KaLin Inman, 17, daughter of Mechell and Jeff Holien, rural Surrey, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in a Minot hospital as a result of injuries sustained Monday in a one-vehicle accident near Surrey.

Reiny KaLin Inman, whose nickname was “RainDawg,” was born in Minot on June 10, 1992, a daughter of Mechell (Inman) Holien and Todd Wiseman. She and her mother lived in Kenmare and Minot before moving to Surrey where she had since lived with her family. She started school at St. Leo's Elementary School in Minot, beginning at the kindergarten level until 2nd grade and continuing from 3rd grade at Surrey Public School into high school.

As a young student, she became active in 4-H, being a member of the Mighty Mustangs 4-H Club in Surrey. These activities included involvement in the Ward County 4-H Achievement Days, the North Dakota State Fair, and the Make It Yourself With Wool Contest. She attended many summers at Triangle Y Camp near Garrison operated by the Minot YMCA, and for a few years, served as a camp wrangler counselor.

At the time of her death, she was a junior at Surrey High School where she was active in basketball, volleyball, track, and cross country. She had been a member of the school student council and yearbook club.

With her family, she was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. She was confirmed there, attended CCD classes which entailed instruction in the Catholic faith, and became an altar girl who served Mass.

Reiny had a free spirit and a kind heart. She did not judge other people and always stood up for what she believed was right. Her passion in life was running out in the open country, often barefoot. In typical Reiny fashion, she felt restricted being confined to running in circles. She had a good understanding of science, and was artistic, enjoying drawing, doodling, and writing. She liked a little glitter in her life too, and had become an avid collector of her old running shoes and numerous others. Reiny had a great love for all animals, especially her horse, Wrinkles.

Reiny was one of a kind. She had the courage to be who God wanted her to be and a faith that would not be shaken. In her words she described herself as strong, content, committed, loyal, strong-willed, non-materialistic and full of life. Anyone who truly knew Reiny will always and forever be touched in some special way by her time on this earth. Through her love of running and 4-H activities she touched many people, even crossing state lines. This is one young lady who will be truly missed and always remembered for her peace sign.
