Gladys Marie Hurley 1920 - 2003 Gladys Marie Hurley, 83, Minot, formerly of Granville and a 30 years resident of Pasco, WA, died on Tuesday, September 09, 2003, in a Minot nursing home. Funeral services for Gladys will be held at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Minot on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. Friends may sign a register book on Friday, September 12, 2003 from Noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Granville Community Cemetery in Granville, ND. Gladys was born March 14, 1920, in Deering, ND, the daughter of George and Mabel (Fast) Harmon. She grew up in the Deering area and at the age of eighteen she moved to Naches, WA where she graduated from high school. On June 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to Francis Taylor Hurley in Yakima, WA. Francis and Gladys returned to North Dakota to run the Hurley family farmstead located in Egg Creek Township just north of Granville. Francis died in 1965 and in 1967, Gladys moved to the Tri City area in Washington with her two sons, David and Joseph. She worked for various restaurants in the area including the Red Lion where she was a salad supervisor. In 2002, due to ill health Gladys moved back to Minot to live with her daughter Janet. Gladys recently resided at Trinity Homes where she lived until her death. Gladys loved reading, gardening and especially attending to her flowers including her beautiful roses, which she won several awards at local fairs in Washington. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Marie Kvame and Janet Landers, both Minot, and Annetta (Vern) Jutila, Rapid City, SD; sons, David (Karen) Hurley, Port Orchard, WA, and Joseph (Robin) Hurley, Pasco, WA; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Blanche Cole, Yakima, WA, numerous niece and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.T. Hurley, parents, one infant grandchild, three brothers, Cyril, Vernon, and Asa Harom and sister, Shirley McVey. Memorials are preferred to Meals on Wheels in Washington.
