Darlene C. Hochsprung 1935 - 2006 Darlene C. Hochsprung, 70, 2695 16th Ave. NW, Ruso, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 in a Minneapolis, MN hospital. Darlene was born April 3, 1935 in Turtle Lake, ND, the daughter of Edwin and Evelyn (Witford) Lindteigen. She was raised in Turtle Lake and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1953. She entered the Women's Army Corps and served from 1953 to 1956 with the Garrison Dam project. On December 6, 1956 she married Ted Hochsprung at Turtle Lake, making their home in Riverdale until 1958 when they moved to Minot. Darlene worked Civil Service for a year at the Minot Air Force Base. She spent her time thereafter raising children and doing volunteer work. She was very active in the PTA and served on many committees and held office positions. Darlene was a 4-H leader for many years in Minot and later in Ruso. She and Ted moved to Ruso in 1973 to assume operation of the Hochsprung family farm. One year later she partnered with Ted in the purchase of her father's business, Lindteigen Construction. On the farm, Darlene enjoyed her llamas and at one point she and Ted had the largest herd in North Dakota with over 90 animals. Her interest in llamas led her to expand her home based business, Royal Distributors. She designed and built trophies for any occasion, of course specializing in the llama industry. She took pride in "going the extra mile" for her customers. Darlene was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ruso, ND, before it closed. She was instrumental in running the McLean County Resource Center for a number of years and served on the Advisory Board for the McLean County Women's Outreach Center.
