Emily M. Hovde 1920 - 2003 Emily M. Hovde, 83, 305 8th Ave NE, Minot, died Tuesday in a Minot nursing home. She was born February 26, 1920, in Ryder, ND, to Martin W. and Christine (Hanson) Petersen. She was raised and educated in the Vang Township, Ward County, Ryder area. She worked at various places in Minot, including Dr. Stone's Hospital, Mandan Creamery, Ellison's and Minot Steam and Laundry. She married George L. Hovde on February 4, 1941 in Plentywood, MT. They lived on a farm in Linton Township, north of Ryder, where they farmed and ranched. George died on September 24, 1976. Emily continued living on the farm until moving into Ryder in 1983. In 1989, she moved to Minot and in 1991, she moved into Trinity Nursing Home, where she has since lived. She was once a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot and attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Ryder. Survivors: son, Gary (Linda) Hovde, Minot; daughters, Sharon (Charles) Kellett, Lakeville, MN and Sheilah (Bryon) Schenfisch, Makoti; seven grandchildren, Terry (Kathy) Hovde, Pam (Jeff) Keller, Rick (Pennie) Hovde, Troy Officer, Traci (Nathan) French, Jennifer Schenfisch and LaTasha Schenfisch; five great-grandchildren, Calvin Hovde, Russell Hovde, Kaylla Keller, Kayli French and Tanner French; brother, Marvin Petersen, Fort Mohave, AZ; sisters, Ellen Bradley, Douglas, Lilly Muus, Billings, MT and Evelyn Tibbetts, Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Rodger, great-grandson, Carson Hovde, brothers, Albert, Harry and Pete Petersen and sisters, Agnes Petersen and Sybil Kailey. Funeral: Friday, 2:00 at Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Thursday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
