Lane A. Hornaday 1968 - 2005

Lane A. Hornaday, 37, 2312 Blake Road, Minot, ND, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005, in a Minot hospital, following a life long struggle with diabetes.

Lane was born February 16, 1968, in Minot, ND the son of Lynn and Mavis (Schlosser) Hornaday. He was baptized on August 29, 1968, and later confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, in 1982. He was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School with honors in 1986, and was a whiz at math and history. He attended Minot State University.

He began his working career while still in high school, working for Ken Gillespie at Bump N' Tilt, which he enjoyed very much. He then worked for the North Dakota Association for the Disabled as a blackjack dealer at various sites in Minot. He then was employed for the Souris Valley Humane Society as the assistant site manager and blackjack dealer at the Lucky Strike, where he was employed until the time of his disability. While dealing blackjack he made numerous friends and really enjoyed his work with a passion.

Lane struggled with diabetes for many years and started dialysis in July of 2004. During this time he made many friends with other dialysis patients and the nurses. He had a special place in his heart for a special nurse, Bonnie. Many days he brought candy and jelly beans for them for their hectic days.

Lane was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Those Who Shared In His Life: Parents, Lynn and Mavis Hornaday, Minot; brothers, Lee (Elaine) Hornaday, Minot, and Lynn Jr. "Bud" (Melissa) Hornaday, Des Lacs; sister, Lynell (Donovan) Bachmeier, Surrey; maternal grandmother, Ruth Schlosser, Minot; nieces, Kelsey, Caitlyn, and Annie Bachmeier, and Brianna Hornaday; nephews, Tanner Hornaday and Benjamin Hornaday; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Lane was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Schlosser, and his paternal grandparents, Loyal and Gertie Hornaday.

Funeral: Friday, (today) August 12, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
