2005 Leroy "Buck" Horgeshimer, 74, Minot, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, at his residence. He was born September 29, 1930, in Minot, ND, the son of Theodore and May (Heemer) Horgeshimer. He was reared and educated in Minot until he was 14 years old when he moved with his folks to a farm, which was located between Granville, ND and Deering, ND. He worked on his father's farm until he joined the United States Marine Corp in 1951. Buck was honorably discharged in 1953, and returned to North Dakota where he continued to work with his father. Buck moved to Minot and went to work for Carney's Coal Company, then Widdel's Bakery and later the Minot Foundry. He married Glenda Granheim on July 3, 1956, in Minot and was employed by Farmers Union Elevator. Buck and Glenda moved to Mohall, ND, Saco, MT and then Malta, MT, where they lived for a short time before moving back to Minot where Buck went back to work for the Farmers Union Elevator. He was later employed by the City of Minot as a heavy equipment operator and drove cab in his spare time. In 1994, Buck retired and spent some much need time relaxing and getting to know his grandchildren. Buck enjoyed reading his Bible daily, working crosswords puzzles, and playing board games with his grandkids. Buck and Glenda raised five children of their own, but there was always room for anyone who needed it. He loved drinking coffee with friends and neighbors and sharing funny personal life experiences. He always had a good word to say to everyone. He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Minot. Survivors: wife of 48 years, Glenda Mae, Minot; sons, Arthur Leroy (Jackie) Horgeshimer, St. Paul, MN, Zachariah Taylor Horgeshimer and his special friend Loretta, St. Paul, MN, and Jesse (Jane) Horgeshimer, Minot; daughters, Helena May Supry, Minot, and Wanda Joy (Daniel) Ortmann, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Brandon Butler, Caleb, and Monica Horgeshimer, Aunna and Ransom Supry, Levi, Elija, and Cody Olson, Jocelyn, Jennifer and Jesse Olson, Amanda and Korissa Horgeshimer and Jeremy Barthelmew; three great-grandchildren, Darian and Mercades Butler and Mickie, brother, Thomas Francis (Teresa) Horgeshimer, Mentor, MN and sisters, Anna (Frank) Hernandez, Roswell, NM and Mary (Charles) Rickets, Fosston, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bud, Thomas
Bruce, James Buster, Edgar Barry and David Benjamin Horgeshimer
and sister, Babe Ytuarte. Visitation: Monday, January 17, 2005, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. |
