Gladys H. Holter 1934 - 2005

Gladys H. Holter, 71, 312 6th St NW, Minot, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.

Gladys was born on January 7, 1934, in Minot, ND, the youngest child of Joseph and Mae (Coulton) Clementich. Gladys's mother, Mae died six weeks after her birth. She went to live with and was raised by her aunt, Barbara "Mom" (Clementich) Kluver and her husband Lloyd. Lloyd was a school administrator and lived in numerous towns including Coleharbor. After Lloyd's death Barbara and Gladys moved to Burlington, ND, and later to Minot. During high school Gladys worked at Warrens Grocery and at a local café. Gladys graduated from Minot High School in 1952. After graduation Gladys went to work for Bridgeman Creamery, where she met Wallace Holter in 1956.

Gladys married Wallace Holter on March 15, 1957 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. The couple made their home in Minot and have lived in their current home for 45 years. When their oldest daughter was born Gladys left Bridgeman Creamery to raise her family. Gladys later went to work at the County Agent Office, Ward County Abstract and later worked part-time in the Lunch Program at Lincoln Elementary School.

Gladys was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. She was also active with the Ward County Centennial, the Norsk Hostfest, which she greatly enjoyed, and local school functions including the Parent Teachers Association.

Gladys's greatest passion was her family and many friends. She also truly enjoyed gardening, embroidering, needlepoint and many other crafts.

Survivors: husband, Wallace, Minot; daughters, Celina Nelson (Dennis), New Town, ND, and Barbara Newman (Marlin), Burlington, ND; sons, Wallace Jr. Holter, Daniel Holter (Paige) and Russell Holter, all of Minot; grandchildren, Amanda Farrugia (Mike), Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, and Cole and Corbyn Holter, both Minot; brothers, Marvin Clementich, Burlington, and Robert Clementich, Spokane, WA; sisters, Phyllis Elixman, Spokane, WA, and Dorothy Volk, Reedsberg, WI; step-sisters, Virginia Rudolph, Billings, MT and Pat (Dignan) Peterson, Okachobee, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and in laws also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; Barbara "Mom" Kluver-Dignan-Haskin, uncles, Lloyd Kluver "Daddy", Warren Dignan, and Howard Haskin, sister, Marie Duhamel: stepmother, Cleo Clementich; step-sister, Evelyn Gobel; step-brothers, Ed Fitzer.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, September 4, 2005, and Monday, September 5, 2005, from Noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Monday, September 5, 2005, at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
