Clarence Tilman Holter
1909 - 2007 Clarence was born on March 19, 1909, the son of Charles and Marie (Svenebo) Holter in Columbus, ND. He attended Leaf Mountain School district School near Columbus, ND. On December 2, 1934, he was united in marriage to Tilda Haarstad at the Assembly of God Church, Noonan, ND. They lived and farmed in Leaf Mountain Township near Columbus, ND, until 1969, when they moved to Powers Lake. They maintained their farming interests until 1972. While living in Powers Lake, they spent several winters in Battle Ground, WA. In 1988, they moved to Minot. Clarence and Tilda were married for 64 years when Tilda died in July 16, 1998. Clarence continued to live in Minot. He passed away during a recent visit to his daughter in Council Bluffs, IA. Clarence was active on the Leaf Mountain Township board, served as a deacon at the Columbus Assembly of God Church and the Lake Assembly Church, Powers Lake, ND. He enjoyed riding bike and walking up until his 97th birthday. Surviving relatives include: Daughters: Marlis (Arnold) Tandberg, Glenburn, ND, Shirley (Rev. Paul) Jackson, Council Bluffs, IA; son: Mervin (Phyllis) Holter, Drayton, ND; daughter-in-law Ruth Holter, Powers Lake, ND.Eleven grandchildren: 38 great-grandchildren: Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Clarence was preceded in death his parents, wife Tilda, son Duane and two sisters. Visitation: Tuesday, November 6, 2007 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, Minot Burial: Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Powers Lake, ND.
