Deloris V. Holte • 1927 - 2010 Deloris Viola Johnson was born April 24, 1927 on the family farm southwest of Ruso, ND to Oscar and Mabel (Johnson) Johnson. She was raised on the farm and attended school at Ruso. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Ruso. At the age of 18 Deloris cared for her mother following a stroke until she passed away five years later. Following her mother’s death she helped her father on the farm for the next 26 years and also worked at the Ruso Post Office. Deloris married Ardell Holte on November 12, 1976, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict. They made their home at Voltaire where they farmed. Deloris sold Avon for a time and served as Voltaire City Auditor for a number of years. Ardell passed away on November 24, 2009. Deloris was a member of Hjerdahl Lutheran Church, Voltaire and a member of the Early Bird Homemakers. She was a member of the Friendship Club at Ruso, and a former member of First Lutheran Church in Ruso. Those who shared in her life, cousins, Lloyd Johnson, Berniece Melom, Norma Austreim, Lester Johnson, Ione Ross, Dale Erickson, Grace Thompson, Gerald Johnson, Robert Johnson, Lyle Anderson and LaVerne Anderson; sister-in-law, Eunice Wunderlich, and five nieces. Deloris was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Holte; her parents, and brother-in-law, Vernon Wunderlich. Funeral: Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Visitation: Thursday, May 20, one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial: Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Hjerdahl Lutheran Cemetery, Voltaire, ND. Cards of condolence may be sent Gerald Johnson, P.O. Box 400, Velva, ND 58790. Memorials are preferred to the Hjerdahl Lutheran Cemetery, Voltaire, ND or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
