Mildred (Millie) Holmen 1916 - 2003

Mildred (Millie) Holmen, 86, formerly of Powers Lake, died Friday, February 7, 2003, in a Stanley nursing home.

Millie was born on July 24, 1916, in Parshall, ND, the daughter of Fred and Annie (Broschat) Edinger. She was raised and educated in the Parshall area. Mildred moved to Powers Lake where she was employed at the General Store for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Carlton Holmen on July 10, 1955 in Powers Lake, ND. They lived and farmed near Powers Lake for many years. Carlton died on December 3, 1986. Millie continued to live on the farm until 1994 when she moved to Velva. In 2001, she entered the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, where she since had lived.

Millie is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, Lyman (Adeline) Lorentzen, Elsworth (Deloris) Lorentzen, Keith (Karen) Lorentzen, Weston (Becky) Lorentzen, Janice Lorentzen, Don (Ruby) Walters, Vernon (Marilyn) Halvorson, Sherry Halvorson, Bonnie Ingebritson, Richard (Shirley) Barenthsen, Blaine (Pat) Erie, Corrine (Arvin) Grove, Eunice (Richard) Ryan, Leanne (Lowell) Van Berkom, Alvin (Jeri) Holmen, Tim (Connie) Holmen, Thena Holmen, and Dwight (Karla) Holmen; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Clifford Edinger, and four sisters, Myrtle Lorentzen, Elsie Halvorson, Altha Barenthsen, and an infant sister; and one nephew, Curtis Holmen.

Funeral: Tuesday, February 11, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake, ND

Visitation: Monday, February 10, 2003, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND, and on Tuesday prior to service time at Bethel Baptist Church in Powers Lake.

Burial: Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Powers Lake, ND
