Daphlyn Holland • 1921 - 2006
Daphlyn Holland, 84, Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Minot
passed away December 6, 2006 in Olathe, KS.
Daphlyn was born December 9, 1921 in Alexander, ND, to Ray and
Anna Gerlinger, Sr.,
Daphlyn graduated from Minot High School in 1940, and went on
to attend Minot State for two years. Daphlyn married Melvin
Holland on August 22, 1948. Melvin died January 1, 1997. She
enjoyed creating scrapbooks of her family, her church history
and her high school class. While living in Minot, she was a
member of Zion Lutheran Church almost 80 years, and was very
active in Martha Circle. She moved to Edgewood Vista Assisted
Living in March of 2001, and eventually settled in the Kansas
City area in July of 2006 to Villa St. Francis Care Center, where
she could be near family.
Survivors include her brother; Ray & wife Elaine Gerlinger
of Overland Park, KS, niece; Cathy & husband Glenn Zumbehl
of Leawood, KS, nephew; Rick & wife Sheri Gerlinger of Ann
Arbor, MI., great nieces; Anne and Sarah Zumbehl, Megan and Emma
Gerlinger.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Holland , and
her parents, Ray, Sr. and wife Anna Gerlinger.
Graveside service and Memorial Service: A graveside service
will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 10:00 am at Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot, ND, followed by a memorial service at 11:00
am at the Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of
memorials to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
