Bertha Hoffer 1921 - 2008 Bertha was born on June 5, 1921 to Phillip and Elizabeth (Bernhardt) Klingman on the family homestead, seven miles south of Kief, ND. She lived on the farm most of her life and was educated at a country school near Kief. On November 28, 1942 Bertha married Arnold Hoffer in McClusky. They settled in the Kief area where they raised 11 children. In 1980 they moved to Minot. Arnold passed away on February 20, 1995. Bertha had a challenging life on the farm, raising her children. Despite that, she always made sure her children were taken care of and respectful of others. It was always her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought a smile to her face. She loved each of her children very much, always being there for them in good times and in bad. Her love was unconditional, her demeanor direct. It's been said, "If you don't know what Bertha means when she says something, you're just not listening". She did not MINCE words, she told you just what she was thinking, like it or not. For the past month her only living sibling, Melita, came to Minot to be with Bertha. During her illness, Bertha's family spent countless hours taking care of her and just being there to help her find her way home to Jesus. Bertha was quite a woman, someone we will all remember and cherish. While not here on earth any longer, Bertha is in our hearts and our minds forever.
