Raymond J. Hoffart, 75, Minot, died Monday, November 30, 2009 in a Minot hospital.

Raymond was born on July 11, 1934, a son of Jacob and Magdalene (Deck) Hoffart in Balta, ND. He was raised and educated in the Balta and Rugby area, graduating from Rugby High School in 1952. He worked for his dad in Rugby until 1961, building and remodeling homes.

On April 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ovitt. They were married for 34 years before separating.

Raymond worked in Pierre, SD, where he worked on the Oahe Reservoir until 1962. He then worked as a carpenter with the carpenter's union until 1967, when he began working as a millwright and worked on the missile project throughout western ND. In 1977, he began working at numerous power plants in and around North Dakota, until his retirement in 1997.

He enjoyed reading, cooking, watching television and going to the races at the Nodak Speedway.

Children: Steve (Lori) Hoffart, Minot, Mike (Kim) Hoffart, Minot, Jackie (Rick) Bischof, Bismarck, ND; eight grandchildren: Justin, Danielle, Jacob, Jesse, Levi, Alec, Wyatt and Cody; one great-grandchild: Gabriella; siblings: Richard (Sheri) Hoffart, Bismarck, ND, David Hoffart, Fargo, ND, Francis (Evangeline) Hoffart, Santa Clara, CA and Rita Holm, Lake Forest, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Renae Hoffart.

Visitation: Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 2-7 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 7 in the funeral home chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
