Leonard Hoaglund 1912 - 2004 Leonard Hoaglund, 91, Anamoose, died Saturday, August 14, 2004, in a Minot nursing home. Leonard was born November 25, 1912, on the family farm north of Anamoose, ND, the son of Edward John and Alma (Beatty) Hoaglund. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school near Funsten, ND. While growing up he helped his parents on the farm. On November 20, 1950 Leonard married Marceline Striefel and they lived on a farm north of Anamoose. They enjoyed life and raised a family here where they farmed and ranched their entire lives. In the early 90's Leonard retired from farming and they moved into Anamoose. Leonard was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose. He served as Justice Of The Peace for a time and was also a 4-H leader for a few years. Leonard loved to fly airplanes and took flying lessons in Minot, but was one hour short from getting his pilot's license. Survivors: Wife, Marceline, Anamoose; daughter, Beverly (Ernie) Schiele, Grand Island, NE; sons, Leslie (Kathy) Hoaglund, Towner, Edward (Leona) Hoaglund, and Rickie (Michelle) Hoaglund, all of Minot; twin sons, Larry Hoaglund and his friend, Deb Bauer, Plummer, MN, and Garry (Jane) Hoaglund, Fargo; daughter-in-law, Tami Hoaglund, Bismarck; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Becker, Minot, Clara Anderson, Moorhead, MN, Esther Bromley, Anamoose, and Emily Johnson, Harvey; father-in-law, Andrew Striefel, Harvey; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Leonard was preceded in death by two sons, Steve and Thomas "Tommy" Hoaglund; his parents, Edward and Alma; brother Clarence and an infant brother, Melvin. Memorial Service: Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose, ND. Vigil Prayer Service: Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose. There will be no reviewal, cremation has taken place according to Leonard's wishes. Friends may sign the register at the vigil service on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose, and also on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
