Lloyd Hill 1922 - 2008 Lloyd was born March 31, 1922 in Benson County, ND. He was raised by Carl and Bertha Hill in the Roseglen and Ryder, ND areas and attended school there. On August 22, 1944 he entered the United States Army and served with Company H, 331st Infantry in Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Eurpoe during World War II. He was honorably discharged on October 6, 1944 and returned to the family farm near Roseglen. On October 25, 1946, Lloyd married June Haugen in Glasgow,
MT. Following their marriage they made their home on the farm
near Roseglen, where they lived until moving to Garrison, ND.
They later moved to Minot,. He was a truck driver during construction
of the Garrison Dam and as a bulldozer operator and truck driver
for Peter Kiewit and during the construction of the airway runways
at Minot Air Force Base. Shortly after that he went to work for
Ivor Lawson who operated what was then the City Service Gas Station
on South Broadway in Minot, then in 1963, he took over the station
for himself. The name of the station changed to South Hill Gulf
and he continued with Gulf until it closed in 1975. He then built
his own shop at his home south of Minot. He was not only busy
in his shop, but did a lot of work around for area farmers. He
finally retired in 2004. Funeral: Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot. Visitation: Monday, May 19, 2008 from noon to 7:00
