LaVida Mae Hill 1913 - 2004 LaVida Mae Hill, 90, 600 S Main St, Minot, formerly of Lignite, ND, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, in a Minot nursing home. LaVida was born May 19, 1913, in Douglas, ND, the daughter of William and Irene (Knight) Wartenbe. She moved to Alabama with her family for a time and later back to Douglas, ND, where she graduated from Douglas High School. She married Quentin K. Hill on February 21, 1933 in Douglas. They lived in Douglas, Minot, Coteau, and Palermo, where Quentin worked as an elevator operator and LaVida did book work for the elevators for many years. In 1952, they moved to Lignite and owned and operated the Lignite grocery store for a time and later moved to Stanley, ND. Following Quentin's death on June 2, 1986, LaVida moved to Minot. She loved writing poetry. LaVida was a lifetime member of the Farmerette Homemakers and Christ Lutheran Church, both of Lignite. Survivors: children, Mona (Bob) Reed, Curtis Hill, Floyd (June) Hill, all of Casper, WY, Mary (Gary) Berg, Phoenix, AZ, Karen (Greg) McEvers, Lignite, and Quentin "Jody" Hill, Jr., Minot; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Lomie Kostad; great-granddaughter, Miranda; her parents, and four sisters and one brother. Funeral: Thursday, March, 25, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, March 25, 2004, one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Lignite, ND, in
