Barbara Ann (Olson) Herschlip
1959 - 2004 Barbara Ann (Olson) Herschlip, 45, Granville, ND, formerly of Boise, ID, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in a Minot hospital after a long struggle with cancer. Barb was born Jan. 24, 1959, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Marlin L. and Lanetta (Johnson) Olson. She was raised and educated in Granville, graduating from Granville High School in 1977. She was employed in Devils Lake and Washburn, ND, before attending Minot State University. She returned to Washburn, and while living there, was employed at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. She later moved to Boise, and was employed at the Idaho Nephrology Center there -- a job she truly enjoyed. She loved her co-workers at the center. They became her extended family. After her health failed, Barbara and her two children returned last August to live with her mother in Granville where she and other family members cared for her until her death. Her children were the centerpiece of her life and the source of strength for her during her illness. Barb will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Those who shared in her life, son and daughter, Cole Lasher and Shayla Swallers, both of Granville; mother, Lanetta Olson, Granville; sister, Maretta Swallers and her husband Duane, and their children, David and Alisha, Williston; brothers, Duane Olson and his wife FayeAnn, and their children, Chelsy, Christopher and Chantal; and Dwight Olson and his son, Donny, all of Granville. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Barb was preceded in death by her father, Marlin L. Olson; grandparents, James and Josephine Olson and Fred and Vera Johnson. Funeral: Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at First Lutheran Cemetery, Granville, ND. Visitation and prayer service: Friday, January 7, 2005, from noon to 5:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
