Vernon Herr 1931 - 2006

Vernon Herr, 74, Burlington, died Saturday, January 21, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

Vernon Herr was born May 27, 1931, the son of Edward and Ruth (Soderberg) Herr in Drake, ND. He was reared and educated in the Kief and Balfour areas, graduating from Balfour High School in 1949.

After graduation, Vernon enlisted into the United States Air Force on February 5, 1949. He proudly served his country for 26 years until his honorable discharge in 1975.

Following his discharge, he moved to Burlington, where he would often be found with the lunch crowd at the Speedway or Hacienda.

He is survived by:
Sister: Shirley (Bud) Struckness, Burlington; three nephews, Jim (Susan) Struckness, Hanover, MN, Dale (Marian) Struckness, Minot, Chuck Struckness, Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign a register book on Thursday, January 26, 2006, from 9 a.m. until service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorial Service: Thursday, January 26, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Burial: A private family burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Officiant: Pastor James Shackelford, Grace Fellowship Church, Burlington, ND
