Helen Hennessy 1910 - 2007
Helen
Hennessy, 97, Minot, formerly of Berthold, ND, died Thursday,
September 13, 2007 in a Minot nursing home.
Helen Bruels was born on August 14, 1910, the daughter of Frank
and Teresa (Huebsch) Bruels in Bird Island, Minnesota. Her family
homesteaded to the Berthold area, Ward County, when she was four
years old, she was educated and graduated from Berthold High
School in 1928.
She was employed at Roth's Market in Berthold, also the Minot
Country Club, which was managed by Jim and Kate Hennessy in the
earlier days.
On December 30, 1930, Helen was united in marriage to George
Hennessy at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Berthold, ND. They farmed
in the Lonetree/Berthold area and in 1942 they moved to a farm
in Des Lacs Township, Ward County. In 1984, they retired from
farming and moved into Berthold. George died on December 2, 1992.
Helen was a former member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Des
Lacs and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Berthold.
She served on the election board until she was 91 years old.
Helen enjoyed outside work and helped George on the farm and
always had a large garden, in the later years she enjoyed her
crafts, would have a booth at the craft shows, enjoyed playing
cards and her tries at the casinos' and making caramel rolls.
The family never knew when her and George would show up at their
door with a pan of caramel rolls.
Helen moved into the Trinity Nursing Home in 2004.
Surviving family includes two daughter and three sons:

Onemia, MN, Gary (Lynn) Hennessy, Billings, MT.

37 great-grandchildren and two step Great-grandchildren.
8 great-great grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild

Williston, ND
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son,
Lyle, granddaughter, Deann, brothers Francis, Donald, Raymond,
Vernon, sisters Dorothy Frank and Marcella Bruels; three brother-in-laws,
Orv Frank, Bud Brekke and Ken Luke; one sister-in-law, Stella
(Grant) Bruels.
Visitation: Sunday from noon until 5p.m. at the Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home, Minot and 6-7 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church,
Berthold
