Agnes (Witham) Hoppman Hemenway, 93, Salem, OR, formerly of Surrey, ND, died Saturday, January 18, 2008, at Farmington Square Alzheimer's Unit in Salem, OR.

Agnes L. Witham was born February 11, 1914, the daughter of Blaine C. and Diadama L. (Smith) Witham in South Prairie, ND. She was educated in South Prairie and Surrey, ND, where the family moved to when she was about 13 years old. She graduated from Surrey High School.

She married Edward J. Hoppman August 22, 1934. Together they raised six children in the Surrey Community. She was very active in Surrey Church of the Brethren and school activities: pianist, youth leader, Sunday school teacher, as well as a 4H leader, band mother, and was a teacher's aid for several years in the Surrey School. She was later employed by the Great Northern Credit Union in Minot. Ed passed away November of 1980.

In 1984, Aggie moved to Salem, OR, and became active in Oak Park Church of God. Here she met and married C. Frank Hemenway in April of 1988. Frank passed away in May of 2006.

Surviving family includes: daughters, Elaine (Elmer) Bradwisch, Chehalis, WA, Darlene (Jack) Dickman, Garrison, ND, Arlene (Robert) Guthrie, Gaylord, MI, and Viola (Arlen) Ojala, Sandpoint, ID; and son, Richard (Polly) Hoppman, Salem, OR; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Sheets, McPherson, KS, and Evelyn Irwin, Rolla, MO; brother, Burton (Louise) Witham, Oliver, British Columbia, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aggie was preceded in death by her mom and pop; husbands; daughter, Lillian Grabow; sons-in-law, Wayne Grabow, and Lyle Haberlock; grandchildren, Wade Hoppman, Sheryle Dickman Espe, and Rodger Bradwisch; great grandchild, Blayne Grabow; sisters, Ruth Luchsinger, and Esther Emswiler; brothers, Emory, Claude, Lyle, Gerald, Robert, and Wayne Witham.

Funeral: Monday, January 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.

Interment: Surrey Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Surrey, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, Aggie's family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Network of Oregon, P.O. Box 12701, Salem, OR, 97309, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
