Floyd F. Helm 1929 - 2009 Floyd was born on August 12, 1929 in Lincoln Valley, ND, a son of Frederick and Bertha (Sprenger) Helm. He graduated from Anamoose High School in 1948 and was inducted into the U.S. Army in October of 1951. He was honorably discharged in July of 1953 and returned to North Dakota. He was once married to Rose Ann Black, who died in 1976. In 1977 he was united in marriage to Helen Tripp Haman. Floyd was a farmer at heart and continued farming throughout his lifetime. While farming, he was employed by Allied Van Lines for 21 years. He then drove bus for the Minot Catholic Schools for 14 years and then was employed by the Dakota Air Museum and the Minot YMCA. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot as well as the Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing and camping with his family and was devout at feeding birds and squirrels in his yard. He was devoted to and loved his family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters Kadie (Michael) Richman of Omaha, NE, Susan Blocher of Minot and Sarah Helm of Minot; sons, Richard (Cristi) Helm of Copley, OH, and Steven Helm of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nicholas Richman, Megan and Emily Blocher, Kristen, Brandon and Lyndon Helm; sister Gloria Mueller of Jamestown, ND; and brothers, Donald (Beverly) Helm of Denhoff, ND and Milton Helm of Denhoff, ND. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Ann: his daughter, Mary Helm; his parents; three brothers, Chester, Marvin and Ralph; and one sister Lila Ackelson. Funeral: Monday, April 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday, April 12, 2009 at 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Visitation: Saturday, April 11, 2009 from noon until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: Monday, April 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
