Margie A. Helmers • 1941 - 2008 Margie Nore was born November 5, 1941 in Coulee, ND, the daughter of Iner C. and Florence C. (Christ) Nore. She attended grade school in Coulee and later high school at Donnybrook, where she graduated in 1959. On June 3, 1960 Margie married Lyle Helmers at Coulee. Following their marriage they moved to Kenmare, where Margie worked at the grocery store for a number of years. In 1971 they opened Helmers Variety in Kenmare, which they owned and operated until 2004, when they sold the business. Margie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed following her son's sporting events and in later years following her grandchildren and their events. She loved her family and enjoyed the times spent with them. She was very active in the Kenmare community, serving on the Kenmare Park Board and the Kenmare Clinic Board. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare, where she served as a deacon of the church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Every year during GooseFest, Margie served as the pie committee chairperson. Most recently she was active on the Kenmare Tree Committee, helping mark the trees that had Dutch Elm Disease and organizing new trees to be planted in their place. She loved spending time with her coffee group and was a social member of the Kenmare Country Club. Margie was a wonderful lady who will be deeply missed by her family and the Kenmare community. Those who shared in her life: Loving husband, Lyle; sons, Curtis (Amy) Helmers and Kip (Lynn) Helmers; daughter-in-law, Eileen Helmers, all of Kenmare; seven grandchildren, Paige, Cade and Jace Helmers, Blair and Zack Helmers, Lee and Kyle Helmers; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Margie was preceded in death by her son, Todd Helmers; parents, Iner and Florence and sister, Precilla Nore. Funeral: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Monday, November 10, 2008, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Cancer Research, to Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare or Margie's wish would have been to have a tree planted in her memory.
