Norma Helgeson 1918 - 2002 Norma Clarite Helgeson, 84, of Minot, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2002, at the Westhope Home, where she had resided for the last five years. Norma was born September 4, 1918, near Landa, North Dakota, to Henry and Maria (Laugsand) Bangs. She spent here early childhood on a farm. She attended school in Westhope and graduated from Westhope High School. She then attended Minot State University, where she received an associate degree in business. After graduation, Norma took a secretarial job at Bridgeman Creamery in Minot and worked there for the next 45 years. Donald died on June 26, 1997, in Minot. After Donald's death Norma entered the Westhope Nursing Home where she lived until her death. Norma met Donald Helgeson while in school and on November 27, 1938 they married. They made their home in Minot and they had one son, Dennis. Norma was a member of First Lutheran, Minot, where she served in teaching and leadership roles for many years. Norma enjoyed their summer home on Lake Sakakawea where they spent their weekends and summer vacation. Survivors: sister, Helen Grinolds, Minot; grandson, Scott Helgeson, Davis, CA; granddaughter, Ann Duschane, Oreno, ME; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Dennis; parents; three sisters, Helma Nordmark, Janet Lee and Delores White. Funeral: Friday, 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
