Edward Heit 1925 - 2008

Edward Heit, 83, Karlsruhe, ND, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Edward "Eddie" Heit was born August 29, 1925, a son of Frank and Regarda (Volk) Heit, on the family farm, rural Karlsruhe, ND. He was one of 15 children. He was raised on the family farm and educated at Villard Township School through the eighth grade.

Eddie married Hilda Fenner June 6, 1949, in Drake, ND. They lived on the farm where Eddie grew up. They raised cattle and farmed small grains. He always had a special love of horses which he passed to his oldest daughter, Pat. He also enjoyed looking for rocks, deer hunting, watching horse and car racing, and arguing "discussing" politics and weather. Eddie's son joined him in the farming operation in 1983. Eddie was semi-retired and helped Terry in any way he could.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.

Surviving family includes: wife of 59 years, Hilda, Karlsruhe; three daughters, Patricia (Duane) Otto, Beulah, Beverly Heit, Minot, and Sharon (Kelly) Cooper, Cogswell, and one son, Terry (Connie) Heit, Karlsruhe; grandchildren, Tracey (Brad) Wagner, Jessica (Chris) Schulz, Trishia (Jake) Anderson, Shannon (Mitch) La Haise, Jodi (Dallas) Lund, Melissa (Jim) Ahonen, Christopher Heit, Sarah Heit, and Katie Heit; and great-grandchildren, Madilyn Gefroh, Jada and Koral Schulz; sisters, Tillie Bender and Katie Schatz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; and a number of brothers and sisters.

Funeral: Friday, November 28, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.

Interment: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Karlsruhe.

Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
