Carmen Heidel 1929 - 2011

Carmen Heidel PhotoCarmen Heidel, 81, Kenmare, ND, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, in a Minot hospital.  

Carmen E. Staaleson was born October 22, 1929, a daughter of Milton and Agnes (Nelson) Staaleson, in Portal, ND. She was raised and educated in the Lignite, ND, area.

Carmen later moved to the West Coast, where she met and married Leonard Heidel. They later divorced. Carmen moved back to North Dakota, where she worked in the restaurant business and owned the Prairie Inn Café in Kenmare. She later worked as a caregiver. She then moved to Williston, ND, where she spent several years with her special friend, Wayne Pendelton. They wintered in Arizona and spent the summers in Williston. Together, they enjoyed playing cards with a group of friends. She later moved back to Kenmare, where she was a resident of the Baptist Home and the Kenmare hospital.

She also enjoyed playing Bingo, and Rummikub. She also was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare.

Her loving family includes:  children, Sandra Brewer, Anchorage, AK, Steven (Shelley) Heidel, Scott (Leanne) Heidel, and Dennis (Sandy) Heidel, all of Kenmare; grandchildren, Shanna (Kevin) Allen and Samantha (Elijah) Worley-Todd; Kristi (Eric) Twogood, Charles (Jessica) Jensen, and Kimberly (Brent) Mogren; Whittney, Shane, and Austin Heidel; and Mike (Cheyenne) Heidel; great-grandchildren, Parker Allen, Phoenix, Takoda, and Nakai Todd; Brenitt, Aidan, and Shae Jensen, Gunnar Twogood; brother, Wayne Staaleson, Grand Junction, CO; sister, Marlys Stroman, Ukiah, CA; aunt, Helen Ekberg, Minot, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kevin; and sister, Lorraine Hefner-Smith.

Memorial Service: Monday, March 28, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Interment:
  Bethany Cemetery, Lignite, ND.

Visitation: 
Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

: are preferred to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, the Kenmare Baptist Home and the Kenmare hospital.
