Jean Ione Haxton 1933 - 2007 Jean was born on May 16, 1933, in Powers Lake, ND, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth (Hopkins) Broughton. She was reared and educated in Powers Lake and in her youth helped her family run, Ruth's Café. Jean married Ormand P. Haxton on January 4, 1959, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bowbells. Jean lived in Bowbells, Portal, Noonan, Minot and Kenmare. While living in Portal Jean worked as a chamber-maid and later while living in Bowbells she owned and operated the County Boy Truck Stop. She cared for her husband, Ormand until he entered the nursing home. Ormand died on March 26, 2000. Jean lived in Minot for a time before she entered the Kenmare Baptist Home. Jean loved car racing, needlework, watching television, dancing, playing cards and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors: sons, Troy Haxton, Newtown, ND and Rick (Kathy) Anderson, Carpio, ND; daughters, Teresa (Rick) Johnson, Kenmare, Tammy (Troy) Sakrismo, Ulen, MN, and Trina (Dave) Manley, Minot; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jesse Anderson, Jessica (Billy) Haisch, Jeremy Gulbranson and special friend Sarah, Aaron Zimmerman, Stephanie Ward, Joshua Kajune, Ryan Johnson, Devin Haxton, Donna Kajune, Shanae, Chelsie, and Kiera Sakrismo and Brandon and Wyatt Manley; brother, Leo (Rebecca) Broughton, Powers Lake; sisters, Joyce Johnson, Apache Junction, AZ, Mryna (Gerald) Adams, Apache Junction, AZ and Luella (Victor) Hoff, Crosby, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ormand, parents, Leonard and Ruth and infant brother Roger Ronald Broughton. Funeral Service: Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, February 8, 2007, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare and on Friday, February 9, 2007, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Minot.
