Cynthia Hawley 1954 - 2008 Cynthia J. Hawley was born June 9, 1954, the daughter of George A. and Opal J. (Severson) Hawley in Minot, ND. She was raised in Minot and attended special education schools. Her parents, along with others, organized the Minot Vocational Workshop in 1969. She was actively involved with the workshop. Cindy LOVED to swim. Her natural ability enabled her to capture many Special Olympic swimming medals on the National level. She was a very likeable individual who enjoyed her walkman, television, and shopping trips. She would probably tell you that attending the World Series with her parents to see the Minnesota Twins was a trip of a life time!! She touched so many. Her quick wit is well documented. She will be missed. Surviving family includes: brothers, Major General (Retired) Bryan G. Hawley and his wife, Marlene, Colorado Spring, CO, Thomas A. Hawley, Fridley, MN, Craig C. Hawley, New Hampshire, and Todd S. Hawley, Minot, ND, nephews and nieces, Scott (Portia) Hawley, Chad (Tracy) Hawley, Ann Marie (Brad) Ancevic, Jeffrey (Shirlee) Hawley, Christopher (Sarah) Hawley, Shane Hawley, Alexandra Bjornstad; and grand nephew, Luke Hawley; and grand nieces, Amelia Hawley and Kaitlyn Hawley. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Opal Hawley; maternal grandparents, Ole and Julia Severson; paternal grandparents, Chuck and Hazel Hawley; and sister, Pat.
