Adam C. Hauck 1916 - 2004

Adam C. Hauck, 88, Minot, formerly of Towner, Granville and Surrey, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.

Adam was born on March 21, 1916, on the family farm of his parents in Stark County, 12 miles south of Richardton, ND, to Balthasar and Amalia (Dick) Hauck. He attended country school near his home. Following his education, he worked on his parent's farm for a time before entering the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he served for several years. He married Helen Kuhn on October 2, 1939, in Killdeer, ND. They moved to Milwaukee, WI, where he worked in a brewery for a time. They returned to Towner, ND, and he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad. While working on the railroad, they moved to Granville, ND, and later Surrey, ND. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad as a track inspector after 38 years of service to the company. His wife Helen, died on December 22, 1999. Adam moved to Velva and then Minot, where he lived until the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Minot. Adam and Helen enjoyed and attended family events that they could. They spent many evenings dancing and playing cards with family and neighbors.

Survivors: Sons, Jerry (Rose) Hauck, Pardeeville, WI, Ronald (Gloria) Hauck, Mechanicsville, MD, Dennis (Kathy) Hauck, Tacoma, WA, Darryl (Debbie) Hauck, Longview, WA, and John (Karen) Hauck, Charlotte, NC; daughters, Arleen Elliott, Lake Charles, LA, Betty (Everett) Loftesness, Warrenton, OR, Janice (John) Acker, St. Peter, MN, and Lynette (Michael) Schlecht, Minot; 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor (Parky) Parkos, Napoleon, ND, Mary (Pete Black) Bandler, Bemidji, MN, Viola (Howard) Hanke, Bradenton, FL, and Christine Leintz, Halliday, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. His wife, Helen, brothers, Frank, Pius, Thomas and Leo, and sisters, Cecilia Leintz, Rose Leintz, Katie Hauck, and son-in-law, Tom Elliott, preceded him in death.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, May 24, 2004, 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Rosary Recitation: Sunday, May 23, 2004, 4:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, May 23, 2004, from noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
