Joyce Madeline Hasenwinkel 1932 - 2003

Joyce Madeline Hasenwinkel, 71, 418 2nd St West, Velva, died Saturday, November 15, 2003, at a Minot hospital.

Joyce was born July 13, 1932, in Bottineau County, the daughter of Romeo "Joe" and Mildred (Hanson) LaRocque. She was reared in Bottineau County and attended Tarsus Township School Bottineau County. Joyce attended Forestry School at Bottineau College.

She married Ellard Hasenwinkel on October 22, 1953. The couple made their home in Velva where Joyce worked for Ernie Sands at the V Store and then at the Velva Drug Store where she worked until ill health forced her to retire.

Joyce was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church of Velva and was a member and past president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Ellard died on October 29, 2003.

Joyce was very devoted to her church and she took great joy in decorating the altar each season. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and she loved entertaining and socializing with friends. She also liked to go camping and fishing.

Survivors: son, Steve (Roxanne) Hasenwinkel, Garrison, ND; two grandchildren, Luke and Libbi, at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellard and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Velva.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 18, 2003, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva.

Prayer Service: Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva.
