George Wallace Hartleib
1946- 2006 George Wallace Hartleib Jr. was born September 16, 1946 to George and Lilly (Klimpel) Hartleib in Minot, ND. He was raised in Sawyer where he attended and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1964. He was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sawyer. August 28, 1965 he married Gloria Moe and they had two children. Divorce was granted in 1981. At the time of his death he resided in Benedict and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot. Upon graduation, he went to work for A-1 machine and Welding where he became a certified machinist and welder. He then moved his family to California where he completed a 4-year journeyman auto mechanic program. After returning to Sawyer, he also returned to A-1 Machine and Welding. He opened his own business and was a mechanic/machinist for several years in Sawyer. His employment history also includes several years at Western Fruit Express. His sense of adventure led him to various truck driving job both local and long haul allowing him to visit several of his family members and to "see the country," as he said. In spare time he worked with his son and grandson Paul at A-OK Lawn Service. At the time of his death, he was employed with Bechtold Paving. His daughter will miss his spirituality, smile and most of all his comforting voice. As the seasons change she will have great difficulty as they shared their love and appreciation of GOD's gifts of scenery. His son will sorely miss him this time of year as this would be race season and they loved the time spent together working on and racing the "Blue Whale". He will also be missed as the hunting season approaches as he greatly cherished this time with his brother Charles and Kent. He enjoyed spending time with all his nieces, nephews and all children. The Berg family of Benedict helped renew his joy for life. Survived by: Children, Wanda Cardinalli, Reno, NV, Kent and Rhonda Hartleib, Minot, 3 grandchildren; Craig, Paul and Amber, 9 brothers, 4 sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceeded in death by his parents and two sisters. Funeral: Monday, July 31, 2006 at 2:30 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Sunday (today) from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Sawyer Cemetery, Sawyer, ND.
