Robert (Bob) E. Harstad
1942 - 2004 Robert (Bob) E. Harstad, 61, Douglas Bay - Garrison, ND, formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, in his home following a long courageous battle with cancer. Robert (Bob) E. Harstad was born on October 31, 1942, in Minot, ND, to Martin and Nellie (Shervold) Harstad. He was educated in the Minot Public Schools. He served with the United States Army National Guard and Reserves for nearly 20 years, and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He worked for the Minot Public School system for 33 years before retiring as utility crew foreman. Following his retirement, he moved to Garrison, where he drove school bus for one year. He enjoyed the laughter and interaction with the school children. Bob was a devoted and loving father to his sons. Those that knew Bob knew him as being a mellow and laid back guy, but the fight, determination and sense of humor he displayed during his illness from beginning to end was amazing. Bob's love for horses got him involved in rodeo activities where he was an excellent team roper. His love for outdoors came at an early age. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing pool. He shot his last deer in November off his deck at his lake home. Those Honored To Share In His Life: Four sons, Charles
