Ron Harris PhotoRonald Jerome "Ron" Harris, 67, Kenmare, ND, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at a Kenmare hospital.

Ron was born on May 19, 1940, in Kenmare, the son of Jerome "Sonny" and Doris (Christianson) Harris. Ron was raised on a farm near Kenaston, ND, where he helped his father farm. He graduated from Kenmare High School in 1958. After graduation, Ron was employed for a short time at Peter Kewitt Construction working on missile sites at the Minot Air Force Base.

Ron married Carolyn Murray on June 3, 1961, and lived in the Kenmare area his entire life. Ron started working construction jobs in 1961, and in 1964, purchased a construction company with Don Harris from Carolyn's father John Murray. In 1972, Ron split off the dirt construction and formed Ron Harris Construction now known as Harris Construction. As the years passed Ron's business grew and made many improvements in the Kenmare area and across the state. All of Ron's kids worked with him at one point or another, which he enjoyed immensely. His son's Kirk and Tim bought into the company and in 1987 bought out Don Harris Graveling. The three of them continued to grow the company and became very successful.

Ron's family was of utmost importance in his life and he took great joy in the family gatherings especially at the family lake cabin.

Ron enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and for the past ten years going south for the winter with Carolyn. Ron had many friends that meant a lot in his life. Harris Construction logo

Ron enjoyed life to the fullest and left us too soon but will live on in all the lives he touched especially his family and all the roads and improvements he made through his work. You can bet that the roads in heaven will be much improved with Ron there.
